At BEN, we are proud to honour educators whose work goes beyond the classroom to create meaningful, lasting impact. At this year’s awards, one Outstanding Teacher Award was presented as the programme’s highest honour, alongside three Special Recognition Awards that celebrate excellence in specific areas of educational practice and community engagement.

Outstanding Teacher Award

The 2025 Outstanding Teacher Award was presented to Ms. Zola French-Ray (West Pembroke ASD Classroom Teacher), recognising an educator whose inclusive, creative, and multisensory teaching empowers every one of her students to thrive.

In her classroom, students feel valued, supported, and inspired to reach their full potential. Her impact extends beyond the classroom through strong family partnerships, school-wide inclusion efforts, and advocacy for programs that enhance student growth and well-being.

With heart, skill, and unwavering dedication, she shapes not just learners, but lives.

Special Recognition Awards

Outstanding School and Community Spirit Award

Awarded to Mr. Terry Henry (Northlands and Paget Primary, Music Teacher), this honour recognises an educator who fosters belonging and collaboration by bringing students and staff together, enriching school life, and strengthening connections within the wider community.

Outstanding Teaching Team Award

Presented to Ms. Kelly Massa (Somerset Primary, P3 Teacher) and her paraeducator, Ms. Simone Basden, this award celebrates a collaborative partnership whose shared creativity, intentional planning, and commitment to student growth result in engaging and impactful learning experiences in and beyond the classroom.

Student and Family Engagement Award

Awarded to Ms. Shayla Morton (Francis Patton, P5 Teacher), this recognition highlights an educator who builds strong, meaningful partnerships with students and families. Through a supportive classroom environment and active involvement in school and community initiatives, her work was powerfully reflected in the exceptional nominations submitted by parents.

These awards reflect the voices of colleagues, families, and communities who see the powerful difference educators make every day. BEN is honoured to celebrate the passion, leadership, and dedication of these outstanding educators.

We are deeply grateful to Allied World for their generous support and ongoing commitment to recognising and uplifting educators in our community.
