BEN provides a unique experience for individuals who are interested in a career in education to become involved with the summer learning program by applying for the role of an intern.

The interns act as teaching assistants, are responsible for devising games and activities for the children during break times, support the lead teachers with lessons and reading tutorials and independently teach small groups of children critical language skills such as dictation and fluency. As a BEN intern, you will receive insight into teaching, classroom management, lesson planning, assessments, and writing final reports.

BEN 2022 Summer Intern, Alexandra Calauro, recalls her experience as an intern at BEN as “a great way to learn from professionals in the education field.” She believes that “anyone who is interested in teaching and education, particularly in the realm of literacy intervention, should apply to intern at BEN! The BEN staff are incredibly supportive, and it is a great opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a classroom. I have learned so much from my internship at BEN and have developed a passion for literacy education that I did not realize I had prior!”
