BEN provides a unique experience for individuals who are interested in a career in education to become involved with the summer learning program by applying for the role of an intern.

The interns act as teaching assistants, are responsible for devising games and activities for the children during break times, support the lead teachers with lessons and reading tutorials and independently teach small groups of children critical language skills such as dictation and fluency. As a BEN intern, you will receive insight into teaching, classroom management, lesson planning, assessments, and writing final reports.

Our internship program also provides an optional opportunity for a paid placement in a public school classroom.

BEN Summer Intern, Ines Bolrinho, recalls her experience at BEN and says, “with limited opportunities for classroom practice in Bermuda for students studying education, The Bermuda Education Network’s intership program is the perfect place to “dip your toes” into teaching in Bermuda! Having the opportunity to intern with BEN expanded my skills and knowledge of the importance of literacy intervention and literacy instruction, while also allowing me to build connections with certified Bermudian teachers, observe their classroom management styles, and learn from their instructional practices. The internship helped me bring real classroom experience to my course discussions and apply the skills I learned to my student teaching placements. I am incredibly grateful for BEN’s internship program and I would highly encourage anyone interested in education to apply and take advantage of this invaluable opportunity.”
