Celebrating Excellence in Bermuda’s Public Schools

At BEN, we honor the remarkable achievements of teachers across all levels of Bermuda’s public school system. The Teaching Awards celebrate outstanding programs and innovative projects that make a lasting impact on students’ learning experiences.

How it Works

School leaders are invited to nominate a teacher or team of teachers at their school for their work on an exceptional new project, program or professional development initiative.

Since each program or project is unique, we evaluate entries holistically rather than relying on rigid criteria. The winning program or project will excel in one or more of these key areas:

  • Enhancing Resources: Improving tools and materials in a specific content area.
  • Engaging Students: Creating new, dynamic experiences that captivate learners.
  • Inspiring Learning: Motivating students of all backgrounds and abilities to reach their full potential.
  • Innovative Teaching: Demonstrating creative and effective teaching strategies that benefit both students and educators.
  • Fostering Collaboration: Encouraging teamwork among educators and community partners.

What We Look For

Finalists may be invited for an interview or classroom visit by the BEN team. When reviewing programs, we value:

  • Thoughtful Planning: Lessons with clear learning objectives and well-defined goals.
  • Student Engagement: Energetic teaching that sparks curiosity and enthusiasm.
  • Passion and Dedication: Teachers who bring their subject to life and inspire their students.

Prizes and Recognition

All Finalists receive a prize and the winning program or project will receive widespread recognition, and the resources will be shared on our website to inspire and benefit other teachers across Bermuda.
